Imagine a whole city loving you more than anybody on the team. Being one of the greatest players of all time. Achieving to where there is no limits. That is the legendary Brian Dawkins. He has done a lot for the Philadelphia Eagles, but for the city of brother hood love that wants everything, it was just not enough. Imagine getting paid more than millions and having things that you couldn’t imagine in your wildest dreams. Well to me this guy has it all, he does what he loves and that is to play the great American sport of Football.
I want to wake up one day in a big house. Wake up to a room full of Football things. Not have to go to school or some other boring thing, but go play football. Be with a team that respects me. After a long day of practice drive my Ferrari home. I want to have the feeling of thousands of people counting on me. He also plays the best position in the national football league, which is the strong safety position.
I stood on the field listen to the roar of thousands of fans on the stands calling out my name. I saw smoke and fireworks shooting towards the sky. As I bear crawl towards my teammates the city of brother hood love on their feet waiting to welcome me. We started to sing…
Fly Eagles fly,
On the road to victory.
Fight Eagles fight,
Score a touchdown 1, 2, 3.
Hit'em low, hit'em high,
And watch our Eagles fly.
Fly Eagles fly,
On the road to victory.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES
Dawkins has the best job in the world. He gets to hit somebody as hard as he wants without getting in trouble. He gets to travel around the country and do what he loves. In my eyes he is the luckiest guy in the world. There is a famous quote “Football is not a game but a religion, a metaphysical island of fundamental truth in a highly verbalized, disguised society, a throwback of 30,000 generations of anthropological time” (By, Arnold Mandell). That would be what I thought if I was in his spot. I have another quote about football by Samir Gul “A man without football is a bird without wings, a lion without courage, and a woman without a heart.” That is why I would love to be Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles and live like a Legend. Dawkins was drafted in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. As a rookie in 1996 he started 13 of the 14 games he played in, recording 75 tackles, a sack, and three interceptions. During his Eagles career Dawkins was elected to seven Pro Bowls in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. In 2002 in a game versus the Houston Texans he became the first player in NFL history to record a sack, an interception, forced fumble, and touchdown reception in a single game. During the 2008 season he became the tenth member of the 20/20 Club and broke the Eagles record for games played surpassing Harold Carmichael who had 180. After the 2008 season Dawkins became a free agent. He finished his career with the Eagles starting 182 of 183 games, recording 898 tackles, 34 interceptions, and 21 sacks. That is why I would love to be Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles and live like a Legend.
